Free PAYG IPhone With The Free IPhone Initiative

I know what you’re thinking: SCAM! That’s what I thought for the last few years when every so often I saw an offer for a free iPhone or other gadget on the internet – for anyone with a brain this seems ridiculous as the provider has no motive to give iPhones away.

It all changed 2 months ago when I was sent an email for a good friend asking me to join a website in return for a free iPod. This guy has a good job and is well respected so I doubted he was scamming me – it prompted me to do a little more research. In the end I found out how the business model for a free iPhone works, and believe me it does work!
Companies are always desperate for sales – especially in an economic downturn. They are willing to take the risk of letting a customer try their product for free in the hope that he will like it so much that he chooses to continue to pay for it. Examples of this are free shampoo samples or chocolates.

The Free iPhone Initiative takes this to the next level – it has found companies that are willing to pay for customers to try their service. The average a company is willing to pay is £20, and these are no failing businesses either: established, well known companies including Lovefilm, HSBC and Sky are all taking advantage of this technique (which is known as affiliate marketing) to get customers
A PAYG iPhone is expensive (but worth it!) – lets say £360 as an estimate. Now the Free iPhone Initiative realise that people are not prepared to spend days filling out the forms and subsequently cancelling 18 offers! That is why they have thought up clever way around this – each person tries only 1 free offer. Then they share the scheme with some friends who may be interested – 20 must sign up for an iPhone or 8 for an iPod Touch. The site tracks who’s signed up through who with a custom link which is given to each member. They can then keep track through the website of how many people have signed up through them. When enough have signed up the iPhone or other gadget that the customer has chosen will be sent to them for free (no hidden costs / contracts) within a week.

Before you ask, yes I speak from experience. I received my free iPhone on Tuesday 1/12/09 after talking to a few guys at work about it and posting the link on my facebook. I had 5 signups within a day and all 20 within a week.

For this reason I have to hand it to the guys at Free iPhone Initiative – an innovative and well thought out scheme in which everyone wins – the customer, the trial company and the Free iPhone Initiative themselves who take a small commission. This is why there is no need for a scam any more with free gadgets. Follow the link below to their website which contains more info along with a signup link.

Let me know how you guys get on, and good luck!
